We all know that excess sugar can have ill effects but did you know that those sodas can also lead to pancreatic cancer? According to a research study which followed over 60,000 people in Singapore ( journal: Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention), people who drank 2 or more sugary sodas per week have a higher risk for pancreatic cancer. Researchers also noted that people who regularly drank sodas often had other bad health habits. How does this work? Well, insulin is made in the pancreas and does the job of metabolizing sugar. Sodas have tons of sugar which increases the insulin in the body and puts more stress on the pancreas which can increase the risk of cancer cell growth. Pancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal forms of cancer with only a 5% survival rate over 5 years.
